Our 27th season kicks off with a return visit from Tom Rigney & Flambeau.
Tom Rigney and Flambeau will tear the roof off anyplace that has one. Flambeau specializes in fiery Cajun and zydeco two-steps, low-down blues, funky New Orleans grooves, and heartbreakingly beautiful ballads and waltzes–a musical gumbo of tasty global sounds stirred together with Rigney’s virtuosic talent, charismatic stage presence, and enough high energy to lift an audience to its feet.

Back by popular demand, we extend our season to bring back local favorites California Zephyr to wrap up Season 26.
This is a rare Modesto appearance by the band that features native sons Alan Arnopole and Steve Ewert. The show, entitled “Roots and Branches,” highlights music from all phases of the group’s storied 43-year career. It coincides with the reissue of their inaugural albums California Zephyr and In The Saddle (now on CD for the first time!).
Join them for a rollicking afternoon of great harmony, solid musicianship, and masterful song craft. As comedian Pat Paulsen exclaimed upon the band’s performance on the original “Gong Show”:
“This is the kind of band you want to go down to the river and stomp frogs with!”

Matt Eakle, best known as the flutist in the David Grisman Quintet, returns to Sunday Afternoons at CBS with his band. Matt says “I always wanted to play in a rhythm-driven groove band, so I called the guys I know who groove the hardest!” His instrumental soul music jam band has “…no vocalist, you won’t hear profanity—but that doesn’t stop us from being nasty!”
